just got back from pride in beautiful downtown Minneapolis!

It was /so/ awesome you guys, it just really was. I went with my gayfriend and one of his friends since this was the last day of pride to finish off the week and mark the memorial of Stonewall

uuguuughghg it was SO amazing, we got there right before the parade started and were just planning on watching, but suddenly this cool black dude walks up to us and is all "HEY WANT TO BE IN THE PARADE"

so. we were in the parade.

WOW though, I don't think I've /ever/ seen such an apathetic crowd. half of the time we were walking (which was like...30-45 mins) they were SILENT, no matter HOW HARD we tried to get them to make some noise. I was shocked. Minneapolis is a party city, durr. (I guess if you're not with a radio station though they're pretty quiet...OH AND DUDE, AL FRANKEN WAS THERE, WHAT?)

so the parade took us past the Gay 90's (which my gf is like "BAWWW WHEN I TURN 18 WE'RE GOING) all the way down Hennepin and right into Loring Park, which was awesome. The whole park was covered in tents and booths and such with food and a lot of live entertainment. We met up with some absolutely lovely Queens and got to watch them perform live which was neat. Lots of corporations were there celebrating so if you were good at it you picked up a lot of sweet free swag (Somehow I got popcorn somewhere, not sure, but I DID manage to snag a cool jag shirt. love the stag)

LOL PLUS; CONDOMS. CONDOMS AND LUBE. i did not get any lol because i don't really fuck but it was just funny to see gf like...fill a plastic bag FULL of condoms saufgasiuf

I signed a whole bunch of petitions, too. And somehow by the time I got home i was covered in stickers (I don't even remember how half of them got there, but one was for JEW PRIDE and I'm like "wat"? lol)

AND WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT, there was some dudes at the entrance passing out...HOLY SHIT, FREE BIBLES. It's like, dude. People are at pride because they are GAY and PROUD of it. They're not going to wander over to you for some free bible you probably jacked from a hotel just to get RANTED at.

the food was too expensive to really eat, and most of it was meat, but proceeds from the tickets went to a good cause so it's not all bad. And man, was the weather just GORGEOUS. not too hot with a heavenly breeze...and still I got burnt, lol :C mostly on my face but damn


tl;dr version: I had a lot of fun at Pride 2009 this year.
PS SOMETHING THAT WAS FUNNY: chipotle was in the parade and on the back of the chipotle shirts was "homo estas?" I lol'd
AND A COOL GAY LATINO COVERED IN SILVER BODY PAINT it was fun
